Interoperability in public safety

Traditionally, interoperability has referred to the ability to interact at various levels with neighboring agencies, primarily via radio. Today, especially as Next Generation 9-1-1 standards gain prevalence, advances in technology have allowed interoperability to extend to other communication systems and information.

These solutions allow for the transfer of not only recorded audio, but also other multimedia data, from third-party sources. The ability to share all relevant information across jurisdictions allows for the complete recreation of an incident in which multiple jurisdictions were involved, thus leading to more accurate reporting and investigations.
